The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a poppy-shaped silver coin to mark Remembrance Day.

The 2019 $10 Fine Silver Coin was designed by Jamie Desrochers, whose multi-layered engraving and colouring give the poppy 'a sense of depth and airiness'.

The coin's reverse design is described as:

'This multi-layered poppy illustration by Canadian artist Jamie Desrochers features four indentations along the circumference, providing the framework for the poppy's four petals. Repeating graphic shapes, intersecting lines, and the innovative use of colour and engraving create the illusion of endless petals. The flower's pistil appears as the centre of the design in black, and the word CANADA is engraved along the outer edge of the bottom petal.'

Meanwhile, the Mint has also issued a 2019 $20 'Lest We Forget' Fine Silver Coin featuring a Murano glass poppy crowning an engraved field of poppies overlaid by a cross bearing the inscription: 'LEST WE FORGET – N'OUBLIONS JAMAIS'.

The Royal Canadian Mint has proudly issued special commemorative coins to remember the service and sacrifice of Canada’s Veterans and active military since 2014.
