New Land Down Under coin series from Perth Mint

Perth Mint has revealed details of its new coin collector programme for 2013 - the Land Down Under series. The coins will showcase Australia’s iconic landmarks, ancient culture, unique discovery and enviable lifestyle, beginning with coins featuring the famous Sydney Opera House.

As a renowned heritage site, a premier performance venue and the central site for Australia’s celebratory occasions, Sydney Opera House is visited by millions of people each year. The coin, issued as legal tender, has an Iain Rank Broadley portrait of the queen, with a reverse showing the Opera House against a backdrop of fireworks framed within a map of Australia. The words 'The Land Down Under' and the P logo of Perth Mint are also included.
