The fortieth Coinex exhibition recently took place in London. Allaboutcoins went along to find out more about the major event in the UK's numismatic calendar…

There can't be many locations as picturesque and exclusive as London's impressive County Hall, beneath the London Eye and with the Houses of Parliament just a stone's throw away across the gleaming waters of the Thames.

That was the location for the fortieth Coinex, the UK's largest coin fair, organised by the British Numismatic Trade Association (BNTA).

Whilst thousands of tourists mingled along the banks of the famous river, coin collectors enjoyed the sights inside the prestigious venue.

The wealth of coins, medals, banknotes and books on offer to visitors more than justified the surroundings, as the special anniversary event offered a huge range of traders from across the UK and, thanks to the decision to allow non-BNTA members to attend too, across the world.

Coin Collector magazine, the UK's newest coin publication, was also present, offering visitors complementary copies of the magazine and the chance to win a Mythical Creatures: Medusa coin, worth £124, courtesy of Pobjoy Mint.

Editor Matt Hill said:

'It was great to be part of this special event and see so many coin professionals, traders and experts all under one roof. If you've never been to Coinex before then make sure to come along next time, it's a chance not only to improve your collection but meet like-minded collectors and dealers with a passion for the hobby.'
