Awards winner announced at Mint Directors' Conference

The Mint Directors Conference, held recently in Ottawa, Canada, saw a number of coins and coin producers receive awards for their work over the past 12 months.

At the Mint Directors Conference held in Ottawa, Canada, from 15 to 18 October, over 300 delegates from the minting and related industries came together to discuss the future of circulation coins, collector coins and bullion, as well as the industry’s contribution to a sustainability agenda.

Held every two year, this year’s event was the first in-person meeting in five years.

One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of the winners of the conference’s awards:

  • Best Circulating Coin or Coin Series: 2022 $2 coloured circulating coin featuring the Honey Bee – Royal Australian Mint
  • Best Collectable Gold Coin: The Gold of the Pharaohs – Austrian Mint (pictured)
  • Best Collectable Silver Coin: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 5oz proof silver dollar – US Mint
  • Best Packaging (of a collectable coin): 2kg Dior Trunk – Monnaie de Paris
  • Best Sustainability Initiative: Dutch Vault – Royal Dutch Mint
