The Israel Coins and Medals Corp has announced the release of a new coin set issued on behalf of the Bank of Israel.

The three silver proof coins show:

  • The Red Sea where, in the Bible, the sea parted to allow the children of Israel to escape from Egypt
  • The Dead Sea - located at the lowest point on earth, 420 metres below sea level
  • The Sea of Galilee - the lowest freshwater lake on earth and the main reservoir for the State of Israel

Designed by Galia Erez, the Red Sea coin has images of the marine life to be found in this Sea. Designer Meir Eshel has chosen an ibex, a once endangered species which can be found at the Dead Sea, along with a depiction of a satellite map of the area. Finally, designers Michal Hamawi and Meir Eshel have depicted the Sea of Galilee through a map and the Sea bounded by palm trees.

To purchase the coins, visit the Israel Coins and Medals Corps website.
