Coinex organiser Christel Swan tells Coin Collector why this is an unmissable event for numismatists.
We recently chatted to Christel Swan of the BNTA to find out about Coinex, London's annual coin exhibition which features a wide range of coin traders and experts (see the full Coinex standholder listing here).
What would you say to encourage collectors to go along to Coinex?
Coinex offers all collectors the chance to see a wide variety of coins for sale and to be offered at auction. There is so much material at all levels of price and so many interesting items. The attendees are some of the most prestigious names in the circle of numismatic companies from all over the world and any collector has the opportunity to buy and sell.
Is the event open to all levels of collector?
Coinex is open to all collectors on Saturday 24th September from 10 o’clock until 3 pm,– there is a small entrance fee.
What have been the highlights of your time organising Coinex?
Coinex showcases the numismatic world and every year we aim to promote numismatics. We have facilitated, during the Coinex weeks, sales generating of £10's of millions of pounds
How do you think Coinex has evolved over the years?
Coinex has become one of a handful of truly leading International fairs.
What do you think the future holds for Coinex and coin collecting in general?
Unquestionably collecting is an expanding market but we need to retain some face-to-face contact in a world that is changing with ever increasing internet sales to an email address, not a person. Coinex remains a diary event that should stand the test of time, evolving to the needs of collectors and dealers alike.
Coinex takes place on 23 and 24 September at The Ballroom, The Biltmore Hotel, London Mayfair, Grosvenor Square, London W1K 2HP. Friday 23 is for holders of VIP tickets only. Entry on Saturday 24 is from 1am to 3pm and costs £5. For full details see the website.
