New Zealand Mint is to issue a rectangular coin as the second issue in its Gods of Ancient Greece five coin series.
The fine silver 2oz rectangular coin features an image of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love. The image features the birth of Aphrodite, as the goddess bursts forth from the ocean, with the shell which carried her to shore shown behind. The word Aphrodite is engraved into the coin in a Greek-style font. The obverse of the coin has the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
