New Zealand Mint has announced the issue of the first ever legal tender Anne Geddes coins, issued in a mintage of 3,000. Anne Geddes has become world famous for her baby photographs, which have been published in more than eighty countries and in eighteen million books.

The $2 coin, which is .999 Silver, features a photograph of a baby asleep in the flower bud. The obverse of the coin features a Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, who is sovereign of the Niue Islands.

Each coin is presented in a silver keepsake box which is shaped like a tool box, with the coin placed next to a silver plated baby rattle.
