Australian citizenship coin from Perth Mint

A new coin celebrating Australian citizenship and featuring the Commonwealth coat of arms has been issued by Perth Mint Australia. Due to be issued in early 2014, the bronze $1 coin celebrates the 'joyful and important milestone' which thousands of Australian immigrants experience each year, as they become full citizens of Australia.

The coin’s reverse depicts the Australian Commonwealth coat of arms, accompanied by the words 'Australian' and 'citizenship'.  The coat of arms consists of the badges of the six States of the Commonwealth on a shield enclosed by an ermine border signifying Australian Federation in 1901.

The obverse has an Iain Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the year 2014.
