The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is the second site featured on Israel Mint's Holy Land coin series.

The coin, available in 1oz Fine Gold and Silver 999 versions features an obverse image of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the oldest major church in the Holy Land.

The Church of the Nativity

A church has stood at the site of the place where Jesus was born since AD327, originally commissioned by Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena. This building was destroyed in fire in the 6th century and was replaced by a new basilica in 565AD.

The church now contains three monasteries and is one of the most visited sites in the Holy Land and an important place of pilgrimage for Christians. It was inscribed the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2012.
