Block Island National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island is the latest location to be honoured in the USA's long-running 'America the Beautiful Quarters' series

The Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter is the 45th release in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters series, a twelve-year initiative that honours 56 national parks and other national sites.

Each year, five new national sites are depicted on the reverses (tails sides) of the America the Beautiful Quarters.

Block Island National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1973 with the transfer of 28 acres from the U.S. Coast Guard, and has grown to it's current size of 134 acres today.
