Collecting modern coins has become hugely popular over the past few years, with thousands of collectors around the world checking their loose change for special designs. For many, it all started back in 2012, when The Royal Mint issued a wide range of special 50p coins to celebrate the London Olympics, each featuring a different Olympic sport.  

Most of those coins have now been taken out of circulation by collectors, but this was just the start and The Royal Mint issue special 50p coins each year - even adding 26 A to Z 10p coins into the mix a few years ago.
