'Nursing' design now issued as £2 coin

Following the success of the 50p coin issued on behalf of the Government of South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands earlier this year, Pobjoy Mint has announced the release of a £2 coin which bears the same design.

The design on the new £2 coin is the same as the design seen on a recently issued 50p piece, and features a heart in the centre with the trace of a heartbeat running across the heart.

The heart is then surrounded by the beautiful feathered wings of an angel symbolising the protection of the care workers that is being given to those who are affected. The 6Cs of Compassion in Practice are shown in the surround along with the Coat of Arms of South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands. 

This new coin features the values every nurse works to known as Compassion in Practice or the 6Cs:

This code presents the professional standards that nurses, midwives and nursing associates strive to uphold.

The new £2 coin will be available in Uncirculated Cupro Nickel, Proof Sterling Silver and Proof Fine Half Gram Gold with both precious metal coins presented in a box with a special certificate of authenticity.
