A new coloured 50p coin, issued on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar, has been issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, which marked the end of war in Europe.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Pobjoy Mint has announced the release of a special Coloured Cupro Nickel Diamond Finished 50p coin on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar.
The coin's deisgn features the London skyline including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster. Searchlights can be seen behind St Paul’s Cathedral.
Beneath the Skyline the national flags of the allies can be seen:
- The United Kingdom
- France
- New Zealand
- United States of America
- Canada
- Australia
The wording ‘VE DAY 75th Anniversary” is displayed at the top of the coin with the dates ‘1945-2020’ shown below. The wording ‘VE DAY’ is shown beneath the flags with the value below.
The new 50p coin will be produced in Coloured Cupro Nickel Diamond Finish in a presentation pack, Coloured Proof Sterling Silver and Coloured Proof Sterling Silver Piedfort with a box and special certificate.
