With a firm commitment to accuracy, consistency and integrity, Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) is a leading third-party certification and grading service for coins, tokens and medals. Since 1987, NGC has graded more than 47 million coins, each one backed by the comprehensive NGC Guarantee.
NGC employs more than 30 full-time coin graders as well as outside consultants. To ensure impartiality, NGC and its full-time graders do not buy and sell coins commercially, and strict procedures are in place to prevent consultants from influencing the grades assigned to their own submissions.
NGC invested more than £500,000 in research and development to create the most advanced protective holder for coins, tokens and medals. Designed for long-term preservation, the NGC holder is used by the Smithsonian Institution and other museums around the world to protect their most treasured rarities.

NGC's website at NGCcoin.uk contains a wealth of resources for coin collectors and dealers, including a Verify NGC Certification tool that includes images of millions of NGC-certified coins. The NGC Census helps collectors gauge the relative rarity of coins, while the NGC World Coin Price Guide helps collectors understand what their coins are worth.
NGC is the Official Grading Service of the American Numismatic Association, which was founded in 1891 and is the only numismatic organization chartered by the US Congress. NGC has partnered with The Royal Mint, which has over 1,100 years of numismatic experience, to directly grade and encapsulate a portion of their product offerings.

Paper Money Guaranty (PMG), an affiliate of NGC, performs similar certification services for collectible banknotes, grading them on 70-point scale and encapsulating them in a protective holder.
PMG has graded some of the United Kingdom's greatest banknotes, including rarities from the Lou Manzi Collection of English Banknotes. That collection includes notes such as a 1797 £1 – London graded PMG 20 Very Fine, which realized £48,000 at a Spink auction in October 2019.
